Little Miss Princess

So finally it is the end of the week and the beginning of the weekend. This week seemed far too long and if you ask me, I would rather work Saturday and Sunday and be off Monday thru Friday.... Im sure Im not alone in the concept. This week has been a damp, dark cold one but no complaints here. Autumn is in full breeze and Im loving the cool down. This week not too much exciting has happened. My highlight of the week was the welcoming of my new puppy Princess. Princess is a two month old Gator Razor Edge American Pittbull Terrier. She is cafe' au lait and white in color with the most amazing ice blue Siberian Husky like eyes. Princess is truly a princess in every sense of the word and has an affinity of being babied and spoiled. The epitome of that 'princess-like' behavior was last night. Miss Princess actually slept in the bed with me and the Hunny like a newborn. I usually do not allow the four-legged family members in my bed but her human-like whimpers softened my heart and I allowed her this unique privilege. Im truly falling for this princess we've aptly named Princess.

Do you have a pet who has warmed your heart? Tell me about it.....

At a Loss For Words...

Hey World!

I subscribe to various blogs that provide great information from what some may consider the mundane to Fashion, Hair, and among other things, mind stimulating intellect. One of my favorite blogs 'K Is For Kinky' had an interesting post yesterday that really bothered me. Ive been a natural haired diva for three months and I learned alot about how to properly care for natural hair from blogs, You Tube, and various websites. There was an abundance of knowledge but there was also consistency. Cleanse the hair with sulfate, paraben, and silicon free shampoo or Co-Wash, detangle while wet (preferably in the shower), apply a good leave in conditioner, seal with an essential oil, and style as you like. Almost every hair care regimen consisted of this basic routine but to my dismay there is a channel on You Tube called 'Type F' that really set me back.
This channel features various videos on beauty and hair care but the natural videos are way off. To start the young lady featured in the video is in need of a deep moisturinzing conditioning treatment. There was one video where the young lady was attempting to curl her hair without detangling or applying any type of moisturizer. can we say Jaw Dropper!!
Even when my hair was relaxed, this still wasnt the proper way to care for hair. Ive included the link to the K is For Kinky blog for those of you who would like to see this travesty. As a people of color, my first reaction was that these videos were a joke. I couldnt believe that with all the advancement we've made in hair care that these women actually believed in the "tips" that they were suppose to be providing. The sad thing is their hair looked damaged and wasnt in any condition to be rejuvenated. Having this mis-information floating around could be detrimental to a new natural who is looking for sound advice on how to care for their natural texture. I am so glad that I didnt stumble across these videos. Im hoping those seeking to go natural do their research thoroughly and dont rely on one or two videos but instead seek a plethora of knowledge before deciding what to do.
